Outdoor Area Rugs Make Patio Living Even Better
Outdoor area rugs are a growing trend in patio living. In the old (showing my age here) days of patios, pretty much if you had a small concrete slab poured outside your back door, you could say you had a patio.
But the world has changed for the better in terms of outdoor living and now some of the patios look as nice as some living rooms.
And one of big reasons for this is the new breed of outdoor rugs. Maybe you can remember back when the phrase indoor outdoor carpet was almost a curse word as far as decorating went. And if you had that kind of thing on your patio, it was flat, no pile and green like fake grass.
Not very pretty at all. Serviceable enough and you could clean it off with a push broom and a garden hose. You still can clean some of the outdoor rugs off with a hose, and if you have bought them at a discount online, then that shouldn’t bother you a bit.
But nowadays that the outside and the inside of many homes are so integrated, many people are turning to custom outdoor area rugs to give that special look to their outside patio space. There are many more choices that are available now than previously. That old indoor outdoor putting green color can still be had, but it is not the only choice anymore.
Depending on the look and style of your patio space, you might be someone who opts for one of those fabulous patio braided rugs. These look for all the world like the area rugs that used to be made by hand in the northeast part of the US. But because they are made of great all weather materials like polypropylene these rugs can stand up to most outside weather conditions.

Patio Rugs For A Beautiful Patio
The times in the past when most patios were simple brick or concrete floors with no wall or roofs is long over with. Not that you can’t have a nice outdoor space without a roof over your head, but so many patios now are really more like outdoor living rooms instead of a place to put up a wooden picnic table and grill hot dogs.
One of those area rugs for a patio can make a huge difference in the styling and presentation of your patio space. If you live, for instance where I do, in Palm Springs, you can find lots of homes and patios done with a mid century modern sort of approach. And in this instance, one of those cheap plastic outdoor area rugs is simply not going to cut it.
Here, the outdoor spaces are often as carefully decorated as the interiors o the homes. Not in all cases, of course, and here in Patio Mike land we have a large seagrass outdoor rug that we were able to get at a great discount online. That is one of the things that the internet is so good for, to help us find the best bargains on all kinds of outdoor living accessories.
OK, I do realize that they did not invent the internet simply for me to purchase one of those cool outdoor sisal or bamboo area rugs at a great discount, but I like to think that they did it for that reason.
The outdoor area rugs come now in a huge variety of colors. We kind of prefer the darker tones like hunter green. It’s good we have a roof here, because even with the UV resistant fibers that the rug is made from, that dark green would fade relatively quickly. There are many other colors to choose from, red is quite popular, and brown and even black. Although, where I live, out in the desert, that black rug would be gray from the all the dust within a week.
The green are rug needs cleaning often enough. And that is high on the Honey Do List for the next week.
No worries, though. Patio season here lasts most of the year. Darn the bad luck.
